Diamond Wordpress Theme

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

The Diamond theme of course also includes support for a blog via the standard posts. All  you need to do is add your posts like normal and then setup your blog page to display your latest posts. You can use the blog template, use the WordPress reading settings or use the Visual Composer to insert your posts on any page. Below you will find the various methods for setting up the blog page as well as instructions on adding your posts.

Blog Template

If you are using the homepage as a static page you can create your blog page using the included blog template. Simply create a new page and under the Page Attributes section select the Blog template. Then publish your page. Now all you have to do is add blog posts and customize your blog using the Blogoptions in the Customizer.

Reading Settings

Alternatively you can leave your blog page using the default template and set your blog page under Settings->Reading this way it will use the index.php template file instead.

Single Post Builder

To change the layout of your blog post you can use the Single Builder option in the WordPress Customizer. Use the options to enable, disable, drag and drop single entry post elements.

Method 2. Displaying Blog Entries On Any Page

Use the Visual Composer to insert Blog items anywhere you want!

You can also create a “Blog” using a blank page and inserting any of the available modules to display your blog posts.

  • Blog Grid – inserts a grid of blog posts with many customization options
  • Blog Carousel – displays a carousel of latest blog posts
  • Recent News – displays your latest posts with a little date on the side (optional)  but can also be used as a grid.

Diamond includes an advanced function so you can easily re-order and also remove items from both your blog entries and blog posts. This of course is done via the Customizer so you can see your edits live. Go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > Archives & Entries and scroll down to the bottom.

  • Click on the toggle icon to enable or disable any item
  • Click and drag any module to re-order it

Diamond includes various post formats for standard posts such as gallery, video, quote and audio. So to add a video all you need to do is select the Video format then add in your video URL in the page settings. See the screenshots below.

Important: You MUST set  your post to the “video” post format in order for the video to display.

The Diamond theme includes the ability to display audio for your blog posts either via oEmbed (WordPress function) or self-hosted HTML5 audio.

By default the blog post media (image, video, audio..etc) is displayed at the top of your content for singular posts which means if you have a sidebar it would be on the same container as the content. However, the theme does include a meta option to allow you to display the media above the post and sidebar.

The Diamond theme includes various “Blog Styles” for your standard post entries. This will allow you to show your posts in the default way but also as a grid or in a left/right layout.

Default Style – Large image and content below
Grid Style – Choose between 2, 3, 4 columns (masonry or fitrows)
Left Thumbnail – Image is placed on the left and content on the right

Global Setting

To change your blog setting all you have to do is browser to Appearance -> Customize -> Blog > Archives & Entries and alter the style for your archives.

Category Specific Setting

You can also select a specific blog style for specific categories. Simply go to edit your Category and select your category specific options.

Diamond of course supports category and taxonomy descriptions. These by default are added as the “subheading” under the main page header but can also be altered to display at the top of the posts via the customizer setting at Appearance > Customize > Blog > Archives & Entries > Category Description Position.

For WooCommerce categories you’ll find the option under the WooCommerce tab in the customizer:

By default the main page header displays the word “Blog” for the title. This can be easily altered in the customizer at Appearance > Customize > Blog > Single

Display Custom Text

You can select to display custom text for your page header title.

Display Primary Category Name

Or you can choose to display the name of the primary category.

The single blog posts have the ability to display many things such as the title, featured image, tags, author bio, post meta, comments, related posts…etc. These sections can be enabled/disabled and re-ordered. Simply go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > Single to tweak your posts to your liking. Here you will find a setting called ” Single Layout Elements” which you can drag/drop to re-order or you can enable/disable.

By default the Diamond theme displays custom excerpts for the blog entries. If it’s showing the full text instead it’s because excerpts have been disabled. Log into WordPress then go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > Archives & Entries and make sure that “Auto Excerpts” is enabled.

Diamond includes an option to automatically enable Lightbox for your blog entry featured images. This is disabled by default (by default blog entries link to the posts). To enable this function log into WordPress and go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > Archives & Entries and check the box to enable “Image Lightbox”.

The Diamond theme includes support for the “Gallery” format which when selected will display an image slider at the top of your post with the images you define for the gallery. Please click on the image below to see how this is done:

The Diamond theme already includes a built-in option for excluding categories from your main blog page due to the high requests. Simply log into WordPress and go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > General and enter the ID’s of the categories you wish to exclude into the field that says “Exclude Categories From Blog“.

Diamond includes an advanced function so you can easily re-order and also remove items from both your blog posts posts. This of course is done via the Customizer so you can see your edits live. Go to Appearance > Customize > Blog > Single and scroll down to the bottom.
